ELZA Implementation at HDI Insurance
Payment Transactions of the Future
Initial Situation
HDI Versicherung AG previously used a proprietary channel for data exchange with their financial institutions in addition to the SAP Bank Communication Manager (SAP BCM). Data from external systems were integrated into the SAP approval process by using network file storage. Since different systems were involved, this led to system and media discontinuities, which posed process and security risks. These risks should be minimized and eliminated by a new solution. In addition, an established standard should be used for data exchange, and automatic, audit-proof documentation of all payment transactions should be made possible.
Individual Challenges
The contract conversion with the house bank presented a particular challenge in this context: Although the previous solution allowed secure data transmission, no information regarding the approvals within the accounting department was transmitted. Therefore, besides the technological change to the EBICS protocol, the approval guidelines had to be defined in cooperation with the house bank and implemented accordingly.
Since financial institutions usually do not provide an EBICS test environment, IKOR also sets up a test server for ELZA customers. By using the individual server it became possible to simulate and test the use of the EBICS protocol with the house bank from a technical and business point of view throughout the whole SAP system landscape.
Solution
With the go-live of ELZA in December 2020 and the direct connection to the house bank via the EBICS protocol, there are no system discontinuities anymore. The proprietary communication solution provided by the house bank became obsolete. All payment transaction processes are centralized in ELZA and processed automatically. The bank data is transmitted via the established EBICS protocol, taking into account the signature rules defined by HDI.
At the same time, HDI is future-proofed with ELZA, as the new EBICS 3.0 standard is already supported. In addition, data from third-party systems is seamlessly integrated into the existing approval processes using ELZA´s SAP BCM import. All common SEPA formats are supported, and individual extensions are possible.
The operational processes now run smoothly with ELZA and, therefore, quickly fade into the background. The IKOR consultants took on our challenges with full commitment and found the right solution for us.
