PERT (program evaluation and review technique or event-node representation) and CPM (critical path method) are project management methods for an event-oriented network planning technique. They show the links between the different activities in a project. They also calculate the network on the basis of the links and necessary time shares. CPM is used for projects that can be standardized. Their activities are largely known due to experience from other projects; here there is less uncertainty with regard to time estimation. PERT is used by teams for projects with high uncertainty and low experience.
